Im very happy, because my project for my diplomas has been accepted. Now Im sure I can work on it for the totality of the year. Ill have to present it on front of a jury the 25th June (It gives me a little time!)
So now, I can tell you what it is: The first part is an art book about an imaginary video game which title is Cathaïr Mùndi (World City) We have three sections in this school: Illustration, Video Games and Animation Im in Illustration, because I have some problems with computers. I take a lot of time to learn, so imagine my difficulties if I would have worked with 3DS Max or Maya ! But I really wanted to do character design and concept art for a video game
So I found a solution: I will do a video game witout 3D, only with drawings A video games art book.
The story of Cathaïr Mùndi?
In a giant and multicultural flying city (Cathaïr Mùndi), an officer who belongs to the dominant class, Fàndù, decides -in spite of his prejudices- to help a young girl immigrated who has strange powers, Amtziri ,to save their city from the unscrupulous manufacturers claws, discovering secrets of the Sidhe, the World of the Dead, a surprising and crazy world, which is endangered by the Ethers extraction, the most used energy in the world of living Cathaïr Mùndi »
It will talk about immigration, racism and discrimination, ecology and problems generated by capitalism and overconsumption Yeeeees I now: so many serious subjects in a so little video game! But I dont like drawing something that doesnt have sense, meaning. Cathair Mùndi will use tree cultures: Oriental (Arabic, Maghrebian and Berberian), Occidental (European) and to finish, Celtic (Breton, my own culture, and Irish).
If it would have been a real video game, I think it would have been between an action/ aventure game, and a RPG Something between Primal, Tomb Rider, and Final Fantasy.
I m sure doing an engaged video game is possible, because it has been already done
Remember:
Final Fantasy X, where you have to destroy God in the end, because hes the symbol of despotism, submission and alienation. Religions are very criticized in this game
Metal Gear Solid, which criticizes the madness of war...
Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee
GTA IV...
Im hungry for meaning.
Im sad when I watch films on TV or on cinema, because, they dont talk to me anymore. They lack meaning. I think cinema lacks directors who criticize established things, who disturb people, these men who prevent people from stagnating , who plant discord and doubts seeds, who make people reflecting But maybe it simply means public doesnt like these things
Well, I love these (few) guys. Those who make me think : Merde! (Shit!) I didnt think about this before, but yeah, hes right!
I really love this moment where youre on the verge of changing your point of view, your convictions, after a good debate, a good discussion...
Beyond cinema, maybe all artistic productions have this problem.
I think when something disturbs, or upsets, its good; it means we touch something which hurts us, but which is very important, and people often lie to themselves about this. Talking about discrimination of women in religions, about this strange racism against homosexuals in sacred books, about Occidents building on the back of the Third World, about European colonization and the maintenance of dictatorships in Africa by these same countries (I mainly think to France) ,about these genocides we dont enough talk about (Native American genocide 9 Millions, or the Arab slave trade Black people were castrated when they were slave in Ottoman Empire-) All these things hurt. And Thats just the tip of the iceberg.
All these things are polemic. But its mainly for this reason we have to talk about it. Nothing can be most dangerous and horrible than taboo, and unsaid realities.
So Ill try to add more meaning in my illustrations I think its important.
But, I have to be honest; of course there is some films and artistic things which are intelligent or engaged! This is a little list of films I like, absolutely personal, so totally arbitrary! ^^
*American History X
*A Prophet
*The Truman Show
*Fight Club
*Lord of War
*Kingdom of Heaven
*Brazil
*The Island
*Minority report
*I robot
*Blade Runner
*Three Kings
Sci fi is often engaged. Sci fi makes us reflecting.
I want more sci fi films and more engaged things!!!!!

*American History X
*Un Prophète
*The Truman Show
*Fight Club
*Lord of War
*Kingdom of Heaven
*Brazil
*The Island
*Minority report
*I robot
*Blade Runner
*Les rois du désert
La science fiction est souvent engagée. La science fiction nous fait réfléchir. Je veux plus de films de science fiction et de trucs engagés!!!
Thanks for helping for English translation to:
Et toujours, spéciale dédicace à:

I can tell that you put quite a bit of thought into this. Which is actually why I'm commenting. It sucks when you work hard on something, and no one notices. (I can't believe you don't have any journal comments yet.) It's an original idea (Not to mention good artwork, from what I saw in your gallery.) and a darn good one at that. If it was a movie, I'd rent\watch it.
Anyway, I'll be interested to learn how you add all those con-traversal issues into your storyline. I'm sure it will be awesome. Good luck on it.
Now on a side note, I like movies and books that make you think, as well. I watched Minority report, I robot, and Blade Runner. I may have also watched Fight Club. (I don't remember.) The rest of them I haven't even heard of. I might have to check them out. Have you ever heard of V for Vendetta, The City of Ember, or Serenity? Those are all some of my top favorite sci fi movies. I highly recommend them. They are all movies that made me think, and I'm sure you would enjoy them.
Well, I think I'm finished. Sorry for writing so much. Sometimes my thoughts get away from me.
Well, about Cathaďr Můndi, I don't think to why Fandů decides to help Amtziri, but I can tell you what are her "stranges power": she can travell in the World of the Deads, because her ethnic group still loves thing from Mother Hearth (I must find a less kitsch expression!^^)... Her people has not been corrupted by bad using of the technology. Like in Avatar movie, they still listen the Nature. It's one of my big problems: I'm someone very idealistic, so I often write manichean things...
It's normal no one wanted to answer to this journal... Do you realize? You can find it some words like "Black, Religion, Discrimination, Racism, Muslim, Genocide, Capitalism..." Many things that occidental people prefer to not talk about. Many people on dA come from USA... And I have the impression these subjects (especially "racism" and "muslim") disturb many Americans... It's sad! But maybe it's just an impression. Maybe simply people are not disturbed, but they don't know what to tell about it. Many people on dA are young!
I speak about these subjects because there many racism and other problem in my country and in whole Europe. It's like that I fight against racism. Talking about serious things using funny medias like video games (etc) is a good solution, I think...
I saw V for Vendetta (good film!) but not "The City of Ember"... I'll try to watch it!
American History X is simply amazing. Sad but beautiful. I think if everybody known this film, no one would be racist! A very good lesson.
I figured people wouldn't want to read the journal because it was so long. (Or at least, it appears that way.) Most people are too lazy for my taste. But you're right, they also don't want to read or think about engaging things. They just want mindless fluff.
Well, often the people I've talked to about "The City of Ember" view it as a childish film due to the main characters being children, but I think it has some important points. And it's not all mindless, as it appears at first glance.
I'm sorry for taking awhile to comment back to you, but I wanted to watch "American History X" first. It was a very good movie. Thank you for recommending it. Yet, I don't agree with you on the fact that people who watch it would no longer be racist. For the most part, racism is just mindless hate for the sake of hating someone. And people will always hate each other. No matter how good the film was, it won't change human nature. At least, that's my view on racism. I'm sure you have a different view. ^^
So, on a different note, what sort of music do you listen to? It's not really relevant, but I'm curious to know if we have similar interests in other things.
I like all that is called "World Music", especially things from Western Africa (Oumou Sangare, Rokia Traore, Salif Keita, Youssou N'Dour, Toumani Diabate, Mamani Keita...), from Northern Africa or Middle Orient (Oum Kalthoum, Rachid Taha, Cheb Mami, Amazigh Kateb, Idir...) and things from India (like bangra music). And...I LOOOOOVE IRANIAN MUSIC!!!! (Niyaz, Azam Ali, Shajarian...)
And to finish with, I'm a great fan of electronic music, dub, trip hop, etc... (The Prodigy, Chemical Brother, Fatboyslim, Alif Tree, Chinese Man, RJD2, Massive Attack, Wax Tailor, Bonobo, Bjork...)
Sometimes I listen some rock band or singer but it's not often.(Placebo, Beastie Boys, Animal Collective...) I'm not very fond of rock music... I rather like some old rock things (Yes, Beatles, Led Zeppelin...)
Sometimes, I like listening to hip hop music for its lyrics. Before, I often listened to video games music (Final Fantasy etc...)
The two only things I can't support are country music and metal.
And you, what do you listen to?
Well, I have some India music, does that count?
Rock music huh? Have you ever heard of jrock? My favorite band is the Gazette, and they are jrock. (Japanese Rock.) I absolutely adore them. I go completely lame fangirly when I talk about them. (Yes, I'm a dork.) But I think everyone at least once in their life becomes obsessed with some band or another. At least, I hope I'm not alone. I would love to give you some links, but I'm not sure you would like them. I want your permission first, or it might be viewed as spam. I assure you, there will be at least six. (If not more.) And the last person I went all crazy fanish on freaked out and never commented back. (Yeah, I have that affect on people.)
I have some hip hop. If you're looking for some good hip hop, I suggest Restiform Bodies. I like their music, because they aren't rappers who curse in every other word of their songs. In fact, in one of their songs, they correctly used the word Schopenhauer in a sentence. These are my favorites from them. [link] [link] But, they might not be what you are into.
Well, I have to go. I'm currently on a Queer as Folk marathon. I'm a very strong supporter of gays, so it's very entertaining to me. It also discusses a lot of controversial things. (I wouldn't recommend it though if you get queasy watching guys have sex. It's a very mature show at times, and I often have to skip over sex scenes.) Still, it addresses important issues that most shows are too scared to mention. Such as, coming out, same-sex marriage, recreational drug use and abuse, gay adoption, artificial insemination; vigilantism; gay-bashing; safe sex, HIV-positive status, underage prostitution; actively gay Catholic priests; discrimination in the workplace based on sexual orientation, the internet pornography industry, and bug chasers (HIV-negative individuals who actively seek to become HIV-positive). Yes, I copied that from the wiki page. Seriously though, once you're finished with the show, you really think. It also makes you feel pretty sympathetic towards gay people. If nothing else, it gives you an idea of what it is like to be gay.
Of course, I know a lot of people who are antigay, and I won't hold it against you if you are. In fact, almost my whole family openly hate gay people. I don't dislike gay haters, I just wish they would be more open minded.
I'm probably scaring you off between my fan girl stupidity and my support of gays, I wouldn't be surprised if you run for the hills. I'm sorry about talking about so many uncomfortable subjects. When I'm tired, I do dumb things.^^

I'm not sure to know japanese rock... But j-pop, yes I know! (Arc en ciel, Miyavi, Gackt)... When I was in High School, I had a friend who was very fond of Japanese culture, and he only listened to this type of music! ^^ Feel free to send me some music links, even if it's on Youtube! I wanted to send you some links from Deezer (largest choice) but I'm not sure it would have worked...
I understand what you want to say about being fan of a group... When I discovered Afro Celt Sound system, I wanted to make discover this band to all people I knew, and it was the only group I listened to during many time! Unfortunately, I never saw them in a concert, it's rare when they go to France.
"so many uncomfortable subjects" ?!? Ah ah ah!^^ My first nickname is "polemic girl" , I'm known for this type of mind, in my school! No subect may scare me... Uuuuuuh, maybe I look arrogant, when I say that!
Seriously, I like talking about these subjects. It's really important. As I ever said, nothing can be worst than taboos. When you don't want to talk about something, you create ignorance, and ignorance often generates hate, violence and discriminations. I think homosexuality is better accepted now because they talk about it in school, etc... But I know ( and I think you will agree with me) the fight for more tolerance and equality is not finished, and many things must be still made. I'm like you, it's important for me to help and support as I can homosexuals.
I have a "theory" about discriminations against gays: religions. Please think about this: there is no more countries that have racist laws against Black, White, or other people. No country says in its laws: "You must kill the Black (or the White, or all that you want) people. But... There are still countries that say in their LAWS (!!!!) "Homosexuals must be killed" or "Homosexuality is bad" etc... Why?!? Maybe because during a very long time, religions have lead people and their countries... And in religious books (Bible, Quran, Thora...) there are no verses that say people who have a different skin color must be punished, but in these THREE books, it's said "homosexuality is bad". I don't want to say racim is less horrible than homophobia... I just want to try to explain why homophobic people outnumber racists.
It's the same thing for women ("women, submit to your husband" etc...). Religions can say very beautiful things, but they have still a big problem with gays and women. Really don't know why. Maybe because religions have a big big problem with sexuality?!? (women were always seen as "creatures" who could never be "satisfied" etc... And gays, well, everybody knows what that disturbs homophobic people.)
I really don't understand why so many guys are so interested by private life of people. Gays didn't kill or genocide (I use this word like a verb) anyone whereas they were persecuted by everybody for their type sexuality. How can we punish someone whereas he didn't kill or torture, or rob anyone?!? That's crazy. The moral is often a great lie. The only thing we should respect are the Human Rights. And the Human Rights say we have to respect each other, even if we haven't same type of sexuality or color of skin. People often forgive things that are really important.
Few months ago, I talked to a baptist girl on dA who said she desagreed with homosexuality but not with homosexuals, and that would have been the reason why she would have not been homophobic... Pfffffffffff! I think it was the only way she found for not feeling culpality being an homophobic person. She thought too it would have been really cool if abortion had been prohibited in whole USA and one of her best sentence was probably " I don't think Obama is Black, I think he's muslim!" Ha ha ahaha ha ha ha ha ha ha AHA AHA Ah ha!!! So funny! If only Afgan people could have listened to her!
That's why I like talking about these things in my stories or drawings. I like making things that disturb people. It's important. I'm not a drawer, I'm a philosopher. I' try to change things drawing stuff that will make reflect people, even if they don't like the subject. I like thinking maybe here some people "faved" (a verb from "favourite"?) some of my deviations whereas they are racist and they don't like muslim people, whereas my characters have arabic or muslim name and have many muslim detail (crecent moon, etc...) It's a good paradox. When you make art, you talk to people. And when you have the possibility to talk to people, I think it's your responsability to make them reflect. You MUST make them reflect. But, it's a personnal point of view. I understand some artist don't want to make engaged or polemic things...
So...What do you think about all these things?
P.S. : I hope my English is not too bad and you understood all things I said!
Second link: Sounds like some scene in a travel video to Ireland. It's nice, just not my cup of tea.
Third link: Perfection. It sounds so soulful. And her voice is really pretty.
Yeah, I listen to jpop as well, but not as much. I have some of Miyavi's and Gackt's music though. "When I was in high school..." You make me feel so young.
Feel free to send me some links for Deezer. Youtube works great for me.
Ah, now that I have your permission, I will spam you with Gazette. Just a warning, they aren't soulful and lovely like your music. They are far more there for the jammy factor. Mind you, I have some pretty soulful music, I just don't listen to that sort of thing as much. I hope youtube works in your region. (France right?)
[link] [link] [link] [link] [link]
And here is proof, that yes, I really do listen to non teeny music, as well. [link] [link] [link] [link] [link] This is what I consider softer and more soulful. Yes, I'm lame. >.<
I know what you mean. None of my favorite bands ever come to Michigan (in America). It sucks so much. Never come to Michigan. Nothing important ever happens here and it's really boring.
Well, I suppose people are more accepting of homosexuals. Still, people around me most certainly aren't. I've heard many of my teachers mention how morally wrong homosexuality is. It's awful, seeing as for about a year I was fully convinced that I was a lesbian. (I've now determined that I'm asexual.) Still, when I told my mom I thought I liked women, she reacted very poorly. She told me homosexuality is a mental disorder and that I wasn't allowed to be one. I was irritated to say the least. [link] and [link] make very good points on homosexuality.
I agree with you completely. It's really none of those homophobic loser's business if someone wants to love a person of the same gender. I don't understand why more people don't see your view point.
Wait, Obama is NOT black?!? I knew it! Joking aside, my gosh that girl was dumb. Usually, I don't like making fun of people for their inferior intelligence...but seriously? What is this world coming to? *sigh*
Your English is great! I have a lot of internet friends from Japan, so I'm used to reading bad English. I'm very impressed by your English, because you can barely tell. Trust me, some native speakers of the language speak it worse than you. I've seen many Americans who completely butcher the language. You're doing fine.
So, on a not so con-traversal subject, have you ever been to America? If so, where and how was it? I'm always curious to see how people react when coming here. (Also, I've always wanted to go to France. If I ever do, are there any places I should go? Like really beautiful must see things?)
P.S. Sorry if I'm not quite as understable today. I'm a little tired.
